female rappers are still rarely seen and if they have to fight twice as hard in the world of pure testosterone and man-power - HIPHOP. But the women who make and stay in our heads, like Missy Elliott, Aaliyah and M.I.A. and it seems now we found a new one: SZA
She’s the first lady on Kendrick Lamar’s TDE label!! She released her first album last month.
The first single “warm winds” brings nice sounds to our ears and offer a glance at the potential lying in SZA’s voice and make you want more, instantly. The male vocals come from Isaiah Rashad.
And in addition to having a great song this video really has something. With the looks like being taped in the 80ies - early 90ies and a landscape that could be almost everywhere, very much reminded me of the area I grew up and a perfect play between slow-motion, flickering pictures and giving speed at the right point.
We really like it and hope for more to come!
