The new video for Jamie XX’s song “Sleep Sound” from artist Sofia Mattioli really hit me.
First I was confused about the non-conventional style for a music video by starting with complete silence. It actually forces to read the displayed text to get what’s going on. And then it unfolds all the power that lies within.
As stated it’s the “journey where love, imagination, silence & music join together to become a whole.” This is exactly what I feel I think since being a child when music is played and my body just automatically feels it and starts moving to it, it’s touched by this interplay of sound and silence. It is hit by the sound waves swirling through the air and then the nicest interaction, if your movements and the waves meet another person responding to them. To demonstrate that Sofia Mattioli dances together with deaf people, who can also feel the music in the air and just feeling the joy of dancing with somebody and being inspired by there music, so they experience it too, in their unique way!
I really love the approach and the visualization of this precious interaction that makes life so beautiful and precious.
