A new festival is going to take place for the first time this week in Vienna, the INquieTUdo Film Festival! The festival’s homebase is the Topkino in the 6th district in Vienna. So you might ask yourself, ok another festival in Vienna so what, but to us this festival seems refreshingly different and kind of exotic, which is everything besides bad, concerning our rather chilly temperatures at the moment. The topic of the festival is contemporary cinema produced in the Portuguese-speaking countries and communities, all the movies shown during the festival will be shown for the first time in Vienna and will have english subtitles. Screening the festival program it is impressive to see that portuguese movies not only come from Portugal and Brasil, but rather unfamiliar places as Angola, Guinea-Bissau and India.
Besides 10 films the festival offers an interesting program including masterclasses with filmmakers, concerts and discussion rounds. Screening some of the trailers of the movies we are already excited to visit this festival as the probability seems high to see pictures never seen before and super strong stories.
Concerning the title of the festival, as explained by the festival team itself: INQUIETUDO is a wordplay in Portuguese where “inquieta/o” (English: restless) is matched with “tudo” (everything). Restless eyes, ears and minds define the state where films are conceived, created, produced, perceived, enjoyed and understood.
