“falling in love is a crazy thing to do” - 2014 - starting off a bit gray, overcoming the christmas and new year’s hibernation state. We are taking a focus on the movies nominated for the Oscars 2014.
One really caught our attention. It’s the new movie from Spike Jonze, who is one of my favorite directors since “Where the wild things are”, but also for his great short movie productions and videos, for Arcade Fire are small masterpieces. His new movie “her” is again a perfect combination of touching pictures in a perfect harmony with the music, which is mostly from Arcade Fire, Owen Pallett and Karen O. This modern love story incorporates all the struggles of modern society, but as well the all time problems of sharing your life with someone, which can be the best thing but also the hardest. Set in the near future it actually covers all the problems we’re partly already facing, getting lost in virtual side world’s, becoming our real worlds. Losing the abilities to just communicate to each other eye-to-eye, being afraid of this “real” closeness", feeling more secure acting over your tailor-made avatar. And still having the oldest, purest longing to be simply loved for exactly what you are.
The two tracks I favor most: “Supersymmetry” by Arcade Fire and “The Moon Song” by Karen O
