Today the Donaukanaltreiben starts and continues till Sunday the 31st of May. At various locations situated at Viennas Donaukanal you can see quite good live bands performing for free.
And before you start to wonder where all these locations are:

Our favorites are:
for Friday 29th of May:
Pabst
, playing 19:00 at Central Garden
And unfortunately playing at the same time:
The Intergalactic Lovers
, playing 19:00 at Salztorbrücke.
If you are more into some upbeat pop/rock with an totally incredible singer, WATCH THEM. They were one of our favorits from Waves Festival 2014
Also
At Pavillon
could be interesting. Indie Pop sounding like a punchier version of Metronomy, they play at 17:30 at Salztorbrücke.
for Saturday 30th of May:
Might be good but we havn’t seen them live:
General Hatzenbichler
, 16:00 at City Beach
Those goddamn Hippies,
17:30 at Salztor Brücke, great voice and superb band name, haha
Mashiko
describe themselfes as “funky motherfuckers”, so that might be good, but we have no idea. Watch them at your own risk :) We could not find any music, and it is damn hard with that band name to be found on the internet.
They play 20:00 at City Beach
We walk walls
are also playing at the same time, 20:00 at Slow Tacos. And we might watch them cause it looks like they have put a lot of effort into the new records. And spoiler alert: we will also Dj 2 times this summer at Slow Tacos, more info coming soon :)
for Sunday 31st of May:
Farewell Dear Ghost
, 18:30 at Salztorbrücke
more indie, but very good quality, as you can see from the video, “put on your (indie) dancing shoes”
Kmet
playing 19:00 at DasWerk
maybe one of the most fascinating acts this year. A very good guitar loop act with some funk and weirdness. Sound a tiny bit like Primus to me, which is always good.
Olympique
playing 20:00 at Salztorbrücke,
somehow the Austrian Editors with a bit of Mona. But they know their shit as you can see at the video (super tight playing plus sound)
Broken Tree O
playing 20:30 at DasWerk
would win the competition for the best band name closely follwed by these goddamn hippies, and are playing some nice (sometimes artsy) jazz pop instrumental hybrid. Very soothing stuff. They would be also one of our main recommendations.
So let’s hope for nice weather the whole weekend and enjoy some great live performances (for free).
