An annual festival of music and performance that takes place each April in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, showcasing rock, performance art, noise and electronica artists - Donaufestival 2016.
As usual the Donaufestival 2016 presents this year a strong contrast to the typical music festivals happening in Austria.
Taking place from the 29th April until the 7th May in Krems, Lower Austria.
The festival with its almost 50 different music acts, performances, installations and film screening offers an overview of the most important tendencies in the contemporary music, art and cultural scene. The Dubstep godfather Kode9 will perform, as the animated superstar Hatsune Miku. There will be shows by Omar Souleyman, Fatima Al Quadiri, Mogwai, Cut Hands, Gaika, One Man Nation, God’s Entertainment, DJ Koze, Pantha du Prince, Saint Genet and many more.

It will be the 12th and last Donaufestival curated by Tomas Zierhofer-Kin.
“Das Donaufestival 2016 versteht sich als Manifest der Nicht-Norm, des anderen, des postkolonialen Blicks auf eine Welt des Grauens. Aber die Statements unserer KünstlerInnen sind auch Ausdruck von Hoffnung und Utopie, ein Appell zu einem neuen Denken, Handeln und Empfinden.” Tomas Zierhofer-Kin
One thing is for sure you won’t get bored at the festival.
On both weekends the performance collectives God’s Entertainment and Saint Genet will show their current works. The piece “Niemand hat euch eingeladen” of God’s Entertainment tries to react to the social conflicts within the current refugee “crisis” in Europe. The typical clichés of audience and performer will be broken apart with sound by Peter Kutin. Link to the official program: www.donaufestival.at
